VÖNIX - Austrian Sustainablility Index

The VBV-Österreichischer Nachhaltigkeitsindex (VÖNIX) is a capitalization-weighted price index that is composed of those Austrian companies, which are leaders as concerns social and environmental achievements. The owner of VÖNIX is VINIS Gesellschaft für nachhaltigen Vermögensaufbau und Innovation m.b.H, while responsibility for the sustainability analysis lies with Mag. Friesenbichler Unternehmensberatung; daily calculation and dissemination is done by Wiener Börse AG. The index is calculated and disseminated on a real-time basis in Euro. It is designed as a tradable index to be used as an underlying for structured products and for standardized derivatives (futures &
options).

Main Features of the VÖNIX:


  • VÖNIX is calculated Monday to Friday real- time on each day Vienna Stock Exchange is open for trading.
  • Dividend payments are not considered
  • Possible free float factors that an index member can have: 0.10 - 0.20 – 0.30 - 0.40 - 0.50 – 0.60 - 0.70 - 0.80 - 0.90 - 1.00.
  • Stocks are weighted according to their market capitalization in free float corrected by smoothing factor GLF. It raises the weighting of shares with low capitalization and reduces the weighting of highly capitalized shares.
  • VÖNIX universe:
    - All Austrian shares in the Prime Market and Standard Market Continuous of the Vienna Stock Exchange.
    - Austrian shares from the Auction Market of the Vienna Stock Exchange pre-selected according to their marketability and sustainability potential.
  • Quarterly review and adjustment of the calculation parameters.
  • Annual sustainability evaluation and classification of the companies according to nine rating classes. The shares included in the VÖNIX are those of companies with a rating in one of the three best classes.
  • The selection of the shares is done in June and is generally valid for one year.
